the ERFC shields of the 1970s. The tree is a Douglas Fir,
Oregon's state tree. The mountains in the background
represent the Cascades and Coast Range, while the butte
in the foreground represents Spencer Butte in Eugene. The
river represents the McKenzie and Willamette Rivers. All
of which are set in a rugby ball.
