Committee will schedule all practice locations and fields
far in advance. They will also organize the setup of the
field on game days or the night before and will require
the entire team to help
- Practice next week same time, same place. Committee
will check on field availability with Janet at the City
of Eugene Athletics.
SCHEDULING: Mike Arnold (Chair)
- The Match Scheduler will prepare a schedule beginning
in January, so that we may have plenty of matches prior
to Bend. he will be in close contact with the field
committee in order to have available home space. So far,
here is the spring schedule:
Mar. 9 OPSU (Peninsula) Bremerton, WA PNRFU Div. 3
Mar. 16 Budd Bay HOME PNRFU Div. 3
Mar. 23 Bend HOME PNRFU Div. 3
RECRUITMENT: Dan Tichy (Chair), John
Benazzi
- This committee is paramount. During the off season we
must organize our efforts to get out more bodies. They
will create signage and assign people to particular
geographic areas around town. Those people will hang up
signs in pubs, gyms, supermarkets, etc. in their areas.
They will also organize other activities, such as a pub
crawl.
- Dan Tichy will also look into T-shirts (Dan will find a
tasteful, simple design and submit it to the Exec.
Committee for approval).
- The committee will also price ad space in the Eugene
Weekly, Springfield News, and Register Guard, including
classified space. They will then present proposals to
local businesses in conjunction with the Fundraising
Committee. They will have the business pay for the ad
space with the add reading: "[BUSINESS] IS A PROUD
SPONSOR OF EUGENE RUGBY CLUB. PLAY RUGBY.
- Dan will report back to the Exec Committee in two
weeks.
- Short-term goal: more people for the second side. Long
term goal: possibly jumping up to Div. 2 after one full
year of 30+ players.
SOCIAL: Justin Burgin (Chair), Eric
Pakulak
- Money will be collected the one full week before the
drink-up, independent of dues.
- Drinkup locations will be planned after the home
schedule is announced.
SELECTORS: Coach Peters, Captain
Card, Kevin Graham and John Benazzi
- Selections will be made before Thursday and announced
at practice Thursday.
WEBMASTER: Mike Arnold
- Will upload on to the website press releases created by
Matt Truta.
- Will upload the info created by the Historian's
committee.
- Will set-up a virtual store through Bob Pierce, so
players can pay for club stuff and dues with credit card.
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Matt Truta (chair)
- PR Committee will receive press contacts from Mike
Arnold. They will contact each news outlet by phone and
email, telling them that he is the new PR person. Will
ask each news outlet how to get public announcements of
practice/match times and how to get match results
announced.
- Following the match, the PR committee will memorialize
the score, who scored, and when. By whatever process,
deemed appropriate by the Chair, the PR committee will
develop a one page Press Release in the format previously
created by outgoing PR Chair, Mike Arnold. The Committee
will have it arranged so the release is emailed and faxed
(and called in when appropriate) to all news agencies.
- PR will work in conjunction with recruitment to get the
word out.
- PR will organize other events and flyers to increase
our exposure and image.
- PR will contact Bob Snyder, the Ducks coach, and Greg
Ferrell, Women's coach, and offer to disburse their match
results along with ours.
FUNDRAISING: John Benazzi (Chair)
- # 1 Goal is to get a sponsor to fund a new set of
jerseys. The old jerseys will be auctioned off for cash
for the team.
- The team moniker is for sale to the highest bidder. We
will approach Wild Duck after Naz gets the contact name
from Waterman. They offered money to the Ducks in the
past, but were turned down due to school policy. Many
have been assigned to a committee already. All will be
assigned to a committee eventually. The Pres. and VP will
each have coordinate with 1/2 of the committee chairs.
HISTORIAN: For starters, does anyone
have an interest in going through a box of old newspaper
clippings and records form the team from the 1970's
through early 80's. Bob Pierce has graciously volunteered
to coordinate that committee. I hope we have some
volunteers to help with him, so he doesn't have to assign
someone. We want some of the good stuff scanned and the
old match reports and rosters put into electronic format
to put on the website.
SERGEANT AT ARMS: Karl Knoll
- Karl will keep track of incoming dues and work on a
"no pay, no play policy." He will arrange for
incoming dues to be deposited within 2 days of their
receipt at US Bank (one of which is on corner of Pearl
and E. 11th).
HIGH SCHOOL TEAM: Duke Allen
(coach/chair), Kevin Graham, Steve Strickland
- The high school club will be set up in the Springfield
School District and will be called the Thurston High
School Rugby Football Club.
- The committee will register the h.s. club with CIPP
ASAP and will petition to become an official THS club
ASAP. These things need to be done within 2 weeks.
- Coach Allen will set up training sessions for the kids,
throughout the off-season, at least monthly, but perhaps
every other Sunday or so. Duke will set up the dates
within the next few weeks so we can start publicizing and
so the kids and their families can plan accordingly.
- Will also compile email addresses and phone numbers of
kids in the following format and submit to me as soon as
possible. email@address.com
First Last (Thurston)
CIPP: Shane Card
- CIPP Committee will arrange for all players to be
CIPP-registered under a "no pay/register, no
play" policy.
- He will coordinate his efforts with the Sergeant at
Arms.
DATED: 2nd of November 2001
Respectfully submitted by:
C. Michael Arnold
